- Paul Green Biography and
Artwork
Paul
Green was born in Lincoln, England on March 7th 1955. Moving
from the flatlands of Lincolnshire to Oldham, nestled in the
Pennine hills, in 1962, Paul developed an early passion for DC
Comics followed by Marvel. 'The Virginian' was the first Western
TV series to be broadcast in colour in the UK in 1964. BBC 2
was a new channel that required a special TV aerial to receive
it so it wasn't until 1967 when 'The Virginian' was transferred
to BBC1 that it received a mass UK audience. The 75 minute format
(shown without commercial breaks), character lead storylines,
stunning photography and memorable music all helped make 'The
Virginian' an established favourite with Paul and his family
every Friday evening.
Following graduation from Art College Paul worked on TV Annual
titles over the coming years for various publishers. Titles he
worked on as artist included Alias Smith and Jones, Doctor Who,
Star Trek, Charlie's Angels, Dukes of Hazzard, Buck Rogers in
the 25th Century, Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman.
In the late eighties he worked on various animated TV series
and commercials. In the mid-nineties Paul wrote and illustrated
two single panel features for syndication in newspapers and magazines.
TV Cults featured The Virginian and Men From Shiloh. His current
work is a mixture of writing and illustration with articles being
published in Book and Magazine Collector in the UK and a book
'Green's Guide to Collecting TV, Music & Comic Book Annuals'.
Paul is also Webmaster of the Pete
Duel Memorial Club site dedicated to the late actor who guest
starred in The Virginian and co-starred in Alias Smith and Jones.
